The Charlotte Observer reported 9th District candidates Democrat Jennifer Roberts and Republican Robert Pittenger debated Wednesday at the Charlotte Chamber.

 

Roberts is a Mecklenburg County commissioner who praised parts of the Affordable Care Act and suggested some improvements. Pittenger is a former state senator who says the health care law pushed by President Barack Obama will raise costs. He also suggested retooling how states get Medicaid funds.

 

Roberts said rail service needs to be expanded, while Pittenger said he would focus more on widening Charlotte-area highways.

 

Libertarian Curtis Campbell is also running for the 9th District seat being vacated by retiring Republican Sue Myrick.
