BURLINGTON, (AP) — Wisconsin's Scott Walker is the latest Republican governor to travel to North Carolina to support GOP gubernatorial nominee Pat McCrory.

Walker planned to attend a rally with McCrory on Tuesday at Copland Fabrics in Burlington. Like other Republican governors who've come to North Carolina, Walker also was set to attend fundraisers for the former Charlotte mayor's campaign in Greensboro and Raleigh.

Walker has become a divisive figure nationally for last year pushing a law restricting collective bargaining for public employees. He survived a recall election in June.

Govs. Nikki Haley of South Carolina, Chris Christie of New Jersey and Bob McDonnell of Virginia also have visited North Carolina on behalf of McCrory.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley campaigned for Democratic nominee Walter Dalton last week.
