RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The race for president remains a toss-up nationally, according to national polling firm Rasmussen. When 11 swing states, including North Carolina, are analyzed, President Obama earns 46 percent of the vote and former Gov. Mitt Romney earns 45 percent. Six percent remain undeciced and three percent say they aren't sure.
"In 2008, Obama won these states by a combined margin of 53% to 46%, virtually identical to his national margin," writes Rasumussen in its daily tracking update.
"After modest post-convention bounces for both candidates, the race is now back to where it was at the beginning of the month," Rasmussen continued.
To look deeper at the race, Rasmussen pushed the "leaners" for a decision. When "leaners" are included in the survey, President Obama picks up two points and Gov. Romney picks up one point. That makes the race a 48 percent to 46 percent lead for President Obama, but still within the margin of error of three points.
