ASHEVILLE, (AP) — Who can resist the chance to fire a couple of dozen rounds using a Uzi?
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports the Asheville Tea Party Political Action Committee is hoping that a lot of people will pay for the chance to shoot.
Chairwoman Jane Bilello says the Sept. 29 "Machine Gun Social" in Brevard will raise money to support candidates endorsed by the group.
Bilello says the event will also show the tea party's support for gun rights. She says the group raised about $1,000 at a similar event earlier this year.
Those paying $25 can fire a 30-round clip from a 9mm-submachine gun such as an Uzi. Those who pay $35 can fire an M16. For $50, people get the power of an AK-47.
Pizza and drinks are included. |
