RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory appears to have the independent vote in hand, according to new data from the North Carolina-based Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling.
McCrory leads Democratic nominee Walter Dalton 46 to 32 among independents. McCrory also enjoys a 7-point lead overall. The poll shows 45 percent support for McCrory, 38 percent support for Dalton, and 7 percent support for Libertarian candidate Barbara Howe.
"PPP's newest poll on the race for Governor in North Carolina finds...basically the same thing as the last three polls," writes pollster Tom Jensen in an e-mail. " McCrory's lead has been 6 to 7 points in all four surveys PPP has conducted since Dalton won the Democratic nomination."
Jensen reports that 79 percent of Republicans say they will vote for McCrory, while only 64 percent of Democrats are committed to Dalton. |
