RALEIGH, (AP) — North Carolina Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill Faison says it's been hard raising money in a tough economy and he'll keep to grass-roots campaigning rather than spending large amounts of personal money to run more television commercials.
Faison made the statement Wednesday, the day after his campaign reported spending less compared with chief party rivals Bob Etheridge and Walter Dalton heading into the final days before the May 8 primary.
The State Board of Elections filing shows Faison's campaign has spent $110,000 on operating expenses but paid back Faison about $500,000 for outstanding personal campaign loans. The Faison for Governor committee said it's raised $11,500 from individuals.
The Orange County representative said his campaign thinks TV debates and public forums are the best approach to inform vote |
