RALEIGH, (AP) — Opponents of a proposed constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in North Carolina are unveiling a pair of television ads which they say describes how the measure would hurt children and victims of domestic violence.

The Coalition to Protect All NC Families held a news conference Monday in conjunction with the release of the ads statewide.

One ad describes the fears of a woman over possibly losing health insurance for her daughter. She receives benefits under her employer's domestic partnership plan. The other ad features a woman who worries the amendment would invalidate the protective order she's taken out against her former boyfriend.

The chairwoman of Vote FOR Marriage NC says she thinks voters will see through what she calls deceptive and false arguments and vote for the amendment.
