RALEIGH, (AP) - The Democrat who lost to Beverly Perdue in the 2008 primary for North Carolina governor says he's considering whether to run this year now that Perdue has announced she won't seek re-election.

Former State Treasurer Richard Moore told The Associated Press on Thursday that many people have contacted him asking him to get back into politics and try again for governor.

The 51-year-old Moore says he knows how to present the arguments for the Democratic cause but doesn't know if he's the right messenger. He says he doesn't know when he will make a decision.

The campaign filing period starts Feb. 13.

Democratic state Rep. Bill Faison is expected to run for governor.
