RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - As the nation's economy continues to struggle, states are seeking ways to make their economic development agencies more effective and nimble, according to a report released today by the National Governors Association.
"Redefining State Economic Development Agencies" focuses on actions around the country, with an emphasis on engaging and sustaining private sector involvement, encouraging collaboration, and creating an evaluation system.
“Economic growth and job creation are some of the most fundamental and important issues we face as governors,” said Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman in a news release announcing the report. “Redirecting and redesigning economic development efforts to focus on entrepreneurship is key to economic recovery that brings strong growth and high-paying jobs.”
