RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Thomas Bradshaw, the former head of the state Department of Transportation and current Statewide Logistics Director, is the new executive director of the North Carolina Ports Authority.
According to a news release from the agency, naming Bradshaw is part of an effort to consolidate and streamline state transportation operations. In 2011, the Global Transpark in Kinston and the state's ports were put under DOT's administration.
Bradshaw was appointed to the position by the board of directors of the States Ports Authority.
“This is the next logical step in leveraging the state’s resources to better serve shippers and freight commerce and position North Carolina to better compete in the global economy,” said secretary of transportation Gene Conti in the news release.
Bradshaw's public sector includes time as mayor of Raleigh and Secretary of Transportation. He was also an investment banker with First Boston, Smith Barney and Citigroup serving the transportation sector.
In addition, he is a former chairman of the Triangle J Council of Governments, the state Environmental Management Commission, North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry, and the North Carolina Public School Forum.
