RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The Bald Head Island ferry is taking a page from airlines. The state Utilities Commission has given permission for the ferry operator to charge $5 per item for more than six pieces of baggage, according to the Wilmington Star-News.

Items deemed "large, heavy, or cumbersome" will be tagged with a $23 fee.

Officials said that baggage issues were leading to delays.

The ferry runs between Southport and Bald Head Island.
