ROANOKE RAPIDS, (AP) — Roanoke Rapids is ready to host an all-day venue that hosts an internet sweepstakes and entertainment center.
The Daily Herald of Roanoke Rapids reports The Royal Palace Theatre is scheduled to open its doors Wednesday evening. The opening comes less than a month after the city leased the 1,500-seat theater on Interstate 95 to Arkansas-based HSV Entertainment.
HSV Entertainment partner Patrick Vota said the firm chose Roanoke Rapids after an extensive search for a site that would welcome tourists and locals with a mixture of sweepstakes technology and live entertainment.
The first show at the theater is scheduled for Oct. 11 and features country singer Chris Young. He is followed by Lorrie Morgan on Oct. 12. Clarence Carter and Percy Sledge are slated for Oct. 27.
