The Winston-Salem Journal reported the county says a state law that applies to whistle-blowers does not apply to the employees who complained.

 

Three former elections board employees sued, saying Elections Director Rob Coffman violated election laws and sexually harassed employees.

 

The lawsuit accuses Coffman of inappropriate conduct and accuses the board and the county of negligence in hiring him.

 

Terry Cox, Deena Head and Pamela Johnson say county officials ignored their complaints about election law violations and misappropriation of county money. They say they were harassed, verbally abused and humiliated when they reported the problems.

 

The county says the whistle-blower law applies only to state employees, not local government workers.
