RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The Exceptional Children's Assistance Center in Davidson is $95,700 richer after receiving a federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

The grant is part of a $4.9 million program announced recently by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, as part of a federal effort to support Family-to-Family Health Information Centers.

The Exceptional Children's Assistance Center is a private non-profit organization operated, according to its website, by and staffed primarily with parents of children with disabilities and special health care needs.

“These centers provide the information that families need to make health care decisions that are right for their children,” Secretary Sebelius said in a news release. “Family-to-Family Health Information Centers are a good investment, and have a measurable and positive impact on families, and communities.”

The $4.9 million in funding will support 51 centers - one in each state and the District of Columbia. The Exceptional Children's Assistance Center in Davidson is North Carolina's designated grantee.
