North Carolina Firms Receive $3.7 Million In USDA Grants For Renewable Energy Projects PDF Print E-mail

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Three North Carolina firms are among the 244 projects nationwide that will receiving grant funding announced Friday by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. The  funding is focused on helping agricultural producers and rural small businesses reduce energy consumption and costs and use renewable energy technologies in their operations, according to a USDA news release.

 
Set to receive funds are:
 
* DDM Corporation, $43,737, Installing a Solar Array System
 
* Philip R. Patterson, $30,000, Installing a Biomass System
 
* Progressive Solar 1, LLC, 3,400,000, Install a Solar Array System
 
Funding is through USDA's Rural Energy for America Program (REAP).
 
"As part of President Obama's "all of the above" energy strategy, USDA has partnered with thousands of America's farmers, ranchers and rural businesses to help them save energy and improve their bottom line," said Vilsack in the news release. "This effort is helping to provide stable energy costs that create an environment for sustainable job growth in rural America."
 
Grants announced Friday amounted to $16 million.
