DURHAM, (AP) — Officials at North Carolina Central University have suspended the drum line of the school's marching band as they look into allegations of hazing.

A statement issued by the school Thursday said the allegations are specific to the drum line. The school provided no additional details.

The suspension took effect Sept. 10. It prevents members of the drum line from participating in all band-related activities until further notice.

In 2011, N.C. Central formed a task force to review its guidelines on hazing. A committee was created to develop new guidelines and strategies to ensure the Durham campus is free from hazing and student abuse.

Florida A&M University's famed Marching 100 band was suspended following the death of a drum major who went through a hazing ritual on a bus last November.
