RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Twenty-eight college presidents, including former Duke University President Nannerl Keohane, were set to announce on Monday their commitment to pledge 5 percent of their earnings as charter members of a movement called the President's Pledge Against Global Poverty. The Chronicle of Higher Education reports the group of presidents includes some from religious universities, liberal-arts colleges, and research universities.
Reports The Chronicle on its website:
"Most of the participants lead or have led private colleges, where the median presidential compensation is $385,909, according to The Chronicle's most-recent analysis. A 5-percent contribution for such a president would be $19,295. Presidents of religiously affiliated institutions, however, often earn considerably less than the median."
