NC Central Trustees Eliminate And Consolidate Degrees PDF Print E-mail

RALEIGH, (WPTF) - N.C. Central University trustees have voted for a restructuring plan that will eliminate several degree programs, combine others and realign several more. The realignment will slice about a dozen jobs.

Eliminated degree programs are:

Bachelor of Arts and Master’s in Sociology programs.
Bachelor of Arts in French.
Bachelor of Arts in public administration program.

Bachelor of Arts in Art with a Concentration in Teacher Education

The trustees approved the following consolidations:

English and modern foreign languages will be merged into a single department.
Mathematics and physics will be merged into a single department.
The dance program will be moved into the theater department.
The college of Liberal Arts and the College of Science and Technology will be combined to create the College of Arts and Sciences.
The Mass Communications program will become a department.

The recommendations approved today will have to be approved by the UNC System Board of Governors.
