RALEIGH, SGRToday.com - TW Garner Food Company, the maker of Texas Pete hot sauce, has been honored as Exporter of the Year by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Steve DeCorte, general manager of sales for the Winston-Salem-based company, received the award from Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler during the Ag Development Forum Feb. 2 at the State Fairgrounds.
TW Garner sells hot sauces, wing sauces, seafood sauces, salsas, and tortilla chips. The company began its export business five years ago by shipping Texas Pete to Finland. Sales have grown and now the company exports to nearly 20 countries. Among them are China, Costa Rica, Dubai, Russia, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
“TW Garner is a perfect example of a company that continues to manufacture its products locally and still flourishes on the global stage,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler in a news release. “In addition, TW Garner has shared its experience with other North Carolina companies and formed partnerships to help those businesses expand internationally.”
TW Garner is in its fifth generation of family ownership.
